This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the preparation and review of SEC filings and disclosure materials, including Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and registration statements; manage disclosure checklists and XBRL tagging.
• Conduct and document technical accounting research on intricate or new transactions.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda summarizing facts, relevant guidance, management conclusions, sensitivity analyses, and disclosure obligations.
• Create, revise, and disseminate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; spearhead SOX remediation and control testing as necessary.
• Collaborate with FP&A and accounting teams on reconciliations, roll forwards, EPS calculations, and supporting schedules for external reporting.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and assist with audit committee preparations and audit inquiries.
• Stay updated on and interpret new FASB, SEC, and industry regulations; lead the implementation of new accounting standards and provide training to stakeholders.
• Offer daily technical accounting support regarding transactions, contracts, and system implementations.
• Provide guidance on M&A, divestitures, equity transactions, joint ventures, and system implementations from a technical accounting viewpoint.
• Deliver technical accounting training and mentorship; review workpapers and complex journal entries.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.
• Maintain consistent and reliable full-time attendance.
• Demonstrate professional conduct with both internal and external business partners in alignment with company policies and practices.
• Lead and provide expert knowledge within the strategic operations of the department.
• Formulate short- and long-term strategies for personnel and organizational development.
• Establish performance benchmarks and foster employee engagement and results through delegation, feedback, goal setting, and performance management.
• Ensure transparent communication throughout the organization.
• U.S. Citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance.
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards, including the preparation of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and related disclosure documents.
• Demonstrated experience in drafting technical accounting memos and making sound judgments on complex issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical issues to non-accountants and engaging with auditors and the audit committee.
• Proficient in Excel and experienced with financial reporting systems.
• Familiarity with XBRL tagging and the EDGAR filing process is preferred.
• Capability to lead and provide expert knowledge within the strategic aspects of the department.
• Ability to create short- and long-term strategies for personnel and organizational development.
• Competence in establishing credibility, persuading others, developing team members, and collaboratively achieving objectives.
• Skill in setting performance standards and promoting engagement and results through delegation, feedback, goal setting, and performance management.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification is mandatory.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in public company accounting or Big Four public accounting with significant exposure to technical accounting and SEC reporting.
• Familiarity with ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 718, and income taxes.
• Practical experience with disclosure management and XBRL tools.
• Ability to fulfill the stated physical requirements, including constant sitting and reaching to operate computers and office equipment.
