This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.
• Carry out accounting responsibilities to guarantee precise and prompt financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Assist Property Management personnel with tasks related to accounting software.
• Reconcile various bank accounts.
• Analyze tenant financial records.
• Verify the accuracy of cash receipts.
• Report any breaches of internal control policies.
• Update property budget templates and input annual budgets into accounting software.
• Examine monthly rent charges.
• Process weekly bank deposits for funds received in the Home Office General Ledger account.
• Conduct general ledger account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries.
• Generate monthly financial statements.
• Provide assistance to Property Management staff with accounting inquiries.
• Support audit processes.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
• Maintain a courteous and collaborative demeanor with staff, residents, and external contacts.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting and financial principles and practices.
• Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, accounting software, and property management software.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; or equivalent education and experience is preferred.
• Relevant experience in a similar environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially email, Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of accounting procedures.
• Exceptional time management abilities.
• Capability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
• Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and understand emails, financial documents, instructional materials, rental agreements, and procedure manuals.
• Competence in calculating figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using American currency and measurements of weight, volume, and distance.
• Capability to meet specified physical demands, including frequently lifting/moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
• Must reside within a 2-hour commute of Portland, OR.
• Option for remote work from home.
• Primarily remote work environment.
• Potential for quarterly in-person training sessions/events.
