This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Oversee the general accounting operations for the headquarters, guaranteeing precise and timely financial documentation and reporting.
• Manage accounting functions across Malaysia, Thailand, and Mexico, ensuring uniformity and adherence to organizational standards.
• Create and produce accounting and financial reports to facilitate internal monitoring and decision-making processes.
• Direct the annual external audit process, orchestrating requirements, documentation, and communications with external auditors.
• Oversee tax compliance throughout the organization, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of relevant tax obligations.
• Plan and execute internal audits to enhance financial controls, identify potential risks, and bolster compliance across the organization.
• Maintain and continually enhance financial control systems, which include general accounting, investment accounting, subgranting, grantmaking, tax-exempt compliance, banking, payroll, and benefits.
• Collaborate directly with headquarters and work closely with staff from Asylum Access Mexico, Asylum Access Thailand, and Asylum Access Malaysia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification or an equivalent qualification.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• 5 years of relevant accounting experience in private corporations or public charity environments.
• Familiarity with a computerized accounting system, specifically Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong understanding of MS Office applications.
• Excellent time management and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to multiple demands.
• Proficient in communicating effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated initiative and capability to take ownership of projects, manage various deadlines, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
• Cultural competence and intelligence, with an ability to thrive in a diverse, multicultural workforce.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively across different organizational functions and levels, as well as with external partners.
• Willingness to adapt and respect various cultures and languages.
• Previous experience with refugee-led organizations or participation in community-led initiatives is considered an asset.
