Director of Project Delivery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of project delivery from the handoff of site origination through to commissioning and transition to operations.

• Formulate and oversee the comprehensive project execution plan, encompassing schedule, budget, milestones, resources, risks, and critical dependencies.

• Lead and synchronize cross-functional teams across engineering, construction, energy/power, procurement, finance, legal, operations, and external consultants.

• Manage contractors, consultants, and key vendors to ensure adherence to technical specifications, schedules, budgets, quality, and safety standards.

• Facilitate the resolution of project challenges and risks, including schedule delays, cost discrepancies, design conflicts, utility dependencies, and changes in scope.

• Oversee project financial performance and controls, including budgets, forecasts, committed costs, contingencies, and cost-to-complete metrics.

• Maintain an integrated project schedule, emphasizing utilities, long-lead equipment, energization, construction completion, and commissioning phases.

• Lead the commissioning processes and operational readiness, ensuring the facility is thoroughly tested, documented, and prepared for acceptance.

• Act as the primary delivery contact for customers, contractors, utilities, and key project stakeholders.

• Provide executive-level reporting on project status, schedules, budgets, risks, and readiness-for-service timelines.

• Develop scalable project delivery processes and teams in alignment with the growing development pipeline.

• Guide design and development through to construction-ready documentation.

• Coordinate power, water, fiber, and site infrastructure requirements.

• Supervise construction execution and manage long-lead procurement activities.

• Implement standardized project management systems and reporting across the entire portfolio.

• Conduct major project reviews and translate customer commitments into actionable project requirements.

• Lead the project delivery team, foster accountability and standards, and create scalable delivery processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, operations, business, or a related field.

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in delivering complex capital projects, preferably in data centers, mission-critical facilities, power infrastructure, or similar settings.

• Proven track record of managing projects from design and development through to construction and commissioning phases.

• Experience in overseeing large and intricate capital projects, ideally in excess of $50M.

• Strong expertise in project controls, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, risk management, contract administration, and change management.

• Demonstrated capability to manage contractors, engineers, consultants, utilities, equipment vendors, and commissioning providers effectively.

• Solid understanding of mission-critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, construction documents, schedules, contracts, budgets, and technical specifications.

• Strong commercial acumen and financial discipline.

• Exceptional skills in leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities across various geographic markets.

• Preferred: experience in delivering hyperscale, colocation, AI, HPC, or other mission-critical data center infrastructure.

• Preferred: familiarity with high-density GPU deployments and liquid-cooled environments.

• Preferred: experience managing data center developments of 25–100+ MW.

• Preferred: experience with utility substations and high-voltage power infrastructure.

• Preferred: PMP, PGMP, PE, or equivalent professional qualification.

• Preferred: experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Power BI, and project-accounting/ERP systems.

• Preferred: experience in building project delivery teams and processes within a rapidly growing organization.
