Director of Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee product cohesion across the Dagster, Prefect, and FastMCP portfolio.

• Determine how products interconnect, identify areas of overlap, and establish the strategic direction for the portfolio.

• Develop and implement the product discovery practice through engaging user conversations, analyzing customer signals, and validating problems.

• Set standards for discovery, facilitate exploration across product surfaces, and guide engineers in user engagement.

• Collaborate with engineers to articulate problems and base product decisions on customer insights.

• Mentor product engineers on product judgment, evaluating evidence, engaging in user discussions, and prioritization.

• Design and manage the framework for assessing product success.

• Establish success criteria, ensure authentic post-launch evaluations, and incorporate insights into future development efforts.

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years in product management, with substantial leadership-level experience.

• Have owned multi-team roadmaps, made challenging prioritization decisions, and delivered outcomes through others without direct authority.

• Experienced in start-up environments and engineering-driven organizations.

• Capable of exerting product influence without a formal PM organization or direct oversight of builders.

• Skilled in synthesizing information across various domains, such as multi-product portfolios, platform/product dynamics, or post-acquisition integration.

• Extensive knowledge of the modern data stack, orchestration, or developer tools.

• Hands-on experience with agentic systems or MCP is advantageous.

• Proven track record of enhancing others' product skills.
