
Director of Preconstruction – Solar, BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and supervise Preconstruction Managers through project feasibility assessments, engineering, pricing, and the transition to construction for solar PV and BESS infrastructure initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with business development and sales teams to shape pursuit strategies and align project delivery capabilities with client needs.
• Manage project-development risk, encompassing pricing, scheduling, scope definition, contractual risks, and the contracting and management of third-party engineers/consultants.
• Collaborate with the Construction team to ensure smooth project transitions.
• Foster continuous enhancement in business processes, team performance, and financial results.
• Lead procurement planning and oversight activities, including supplier qualification, strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, equipment procurement, subcontractor engagement, and supply chain risk management.
• Assist in achieving project cost, schedule, and quality goals.
• 7–10 years of management experience directing teams in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar PV and battery energy storage.
• Expertise in PV and energy storage engineering principles and tools, such as AutoCAD and PVsyst.
• Proficient in industry scheduling software including Primavera or Microsoft Project.
• Strong understanding of project costing models and estimating methodologies.
• Ability to create and analyze pro formas, budgets, and revenue forecasts.
• Skilled in reviewing and negotiating customer contracts and subcontracts.
• Comprehensive knowledge of major equipment supplier technology offerings and their applications for solar and BESS.
• Familiarity with pre-construction and costing procedures.
• Preferred team management experience in pre-construction.
• A four-year college degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is required.
