This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee OppNet's people operations, culture, and overall employee experience.
• Strategize and execute people-related components of organizational transitions, including the onboarding and integration of the new CEO.
• Formulate change management strategies and convey organizational changes in a clear, timely, and transparent manner.
• Act as a reliable resource for staff throughout transitions, monitor morale and engagement levels, and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Provide managers with the necessary tools and coaching to guide teams through periods of change.
• Modify people policies, practices, and structures as organizational priorities shift.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Supervise benefits administration and manage leave processes.
• Collaborate with the Finance team on payroll matters and oversee the People and Culture budget.
• Maintain the employee handbook and relevant people policies.
• Enhance and manage HRIS and applicant tracking systems, including ADP Workforce Now.
• Uphold the compensation strategy and suggest equitable and competitive adjustments.
• Oversee the complete employee lifecycle, encompassing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention, and offboarding.
• Lead structured and equitable hiring procedures alongside hiring managers.
• Develop orientation and onboarding processes for remote and hybrid work settings.
• Assist managers with performance management and individual development planning.
• Create professional development opportunities and eventually establish a learning and development program.
• Conduct exit interviews and leverage retention and exit data to enhance practices.
• Design and implement engagement and culture surveys and facilitate planning based on responses.
• Manage employee relations and address concerns promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
• Coach and advise managers and leaders on best practices in HR.
• Promote learning and dialogue around inclusion, psychological safety, and leadership accountability.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the Senior Coordinator of People and Culture.
• Engage in organization-wide learning sessions, working groups, affinity groups, All-Hands meetings, State of OppNet meetings, team meetings, retreats, and institutional retreats.
• A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in HR, people operations, or organizational development.
• At least three years of experience leading an HR function, managing personnel, or with a comparable level of responsibility.
• Proven history of guiding organizations through change, preferably in a mission-driven or nonprofit context.
• Comprehensive HR generalist knowledge, including benefits administration, payroll, employee relations, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance, particularly concerning New York State and City regulations.
• Experience managing workforces across various states.
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
• Experience in building talent systems, including recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance management.
• Ability to create HR processes and tools that enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
• An asset-based, employee-centered approach to leadership.
• Experience in fostering connection and belonging within a remote or distributed workforce.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
• Familiarity with an HRIS; experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
• A genuine commitment to OppNet's mission.
• Full vaccination against COVID-19 unless an exemption has been granted.
• Availability during core working hours from approximately 11 AM to 3 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday.
• Flexibility to work with a supervisor to complete weekly full-time hours.
• Must reside in the Northeast United States.
