Director of Language and Literacy – MLL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Propel Rocketship’s literacy and multilingual learner strategy by establishing the vision and direction for multilingual learning pedagogy and its execution.

• Provide guidance to academic and school leaders regarding literacy instruction, multilingual learner support, and program execution.

• Evaluate student performance, language proficiency, coaching, and observation data to set priorities and shape action plans.

• Lead professional development initiatives to enhance literacy instruction and assist multilingual learners across various regions.

• Assist in the adoption of curriculum and oversee the deployment of literacy, language, and integrated English language development resources.

• Collaborate with network achievement team members to ensure instructional support and resources are aligned.

• Track progress toward literacy and multilingual learner objectives.

• Suggest instructional materials and planning resources.

• Work alongside internal and external stakeholders.

• Mentor and develop team members in content expertise, pedagogy, and implementation practices.

• Facilitate regular team meetings and monitor team progress.

• Conduct school visits to inform support, planning, and strategy development.

• Contribute to the feedback, growth, and evaluation processes for team members.

• Enhance the capacity of regional achievement team members and school-based leaders.

• Train regional leaders, school leaders, and instructional personnel.

• Observe classroom instruction and review curriculum to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

• Provide actionable feedback based on observations, student performance, and language development metrics.

• Create tools and resources to support curriculum implementation and integrated language development.

• Facilitate network-wide professional development opportunities.

• Collaborate with principals and regional leaders to strategize professional learning.

• Fortify Rocketship Public Schools’ literacy strategy, multilingual learner support, instructional assistance, and program implementation across regions.

• Report directly to the Senior Director of Language and Literacy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in coaching, managing, or developing adults towards achieving strong instructional and student outcomes in a high-performing charter, district, or similar educational setting.

• 2-4 additional years of successful teaching experience, ideally in elementary education, with a proven track record of strong student achievement.

• Experience in leading curriculum development, implementation, instructional projects, and/or school-based academic initiatives.

• Experience with Amplify CKLA is highly preferred.

• Proven experience in designing and delivering professional development to diverse audiences.

• Expertise in literacy curriculum design and development.

• Strong knowledge of English language development and instruction for multilingual learners.

• Exceptional organizational, project management, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Capable of verbal communication with adults and children.

• Ability to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to occasionally climb ladders.

• Requires close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
