Director of IT Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VP of IT & SIDO regarding business, technology, organizational, and operational priorities.

• Convert the business priorities of Electronic Systems into IT and digital strategies, objectives, and investment priorities.

• Represent the VP of IT & SIDO in meetings and forums as needed, conveying established direction and ensuring alignment and follow-through.

• Anticipate potential issues, identify cross-functional dependencies, and articulate complex topics for executive discussion and decision-making.

• Create and manage an effective leadership operating rhythm across ES IT.

• Collaborate with leaders in architecture, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data, AI, and digital to assess technology strategies, opportunities, and tradeoffs.

• Utilize enterprise architecture knowledge and technical experience to challenge assumptions, ensuring technology decisions align with long-term business objectives.

• Assess emerging technologies and industry trends.

• Align enterprise technology direction with sector business needs while identifying opportunities for reuse, simplification, standardization, and modernization.

• Facilitate the strategic planning and development of multi-year technology roadmaps.

• Align IT investments with high-value business outcomes and the priorities of Electronic Systems.

• Outline major technology investments, business cases, strategic choices, and tradeoffs for executive review.

• Identify opportunities for technology, data, automation, and AI to enhance productivity, accelerate growth, and improve execution.

• Align resources and investments with overall strategy.

• Link IT strategy and investments to measurable business outcomes.

• Create executive-level communications, presentations, strategy documents, and decision papers.

• Translate intricate technology topics into business implications, choices, and recommendations.

• Build collaborative relationships across Electronic Systems, Enterprise IT, and other BAE Systems organizations.

• Lead executive discussions and working sessions on complex or cross-functional issues.

• Enhance the effectiveness of the ES IT leadership team and the broader organization.

• Promote alignment, accountability, and follow-through on strategic initiatives.

• Collaborate with leaders on organizational change, stakeholder engagement, and the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.

• Assist in developing organizational change management capabilities, with potential future leadership responsibilities for a people/change management team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

• Bachelor's Degree and over 10 years of experience.

• Substantial progressive leadership experience in enterprise information technology, digital transformation, or related technology fields.

• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise IT architecture, infrastructure, cloud, applications, cybersecurity, data, AI, and contemporary digital technologies.

• Proven experience in developing technology strategies and translating business priorities into technology roadmaps and investment decisions.

• Experience collaborating with senior executives and navigating complex, matrixed organizations.

• Strong business and financial acumen, including evaluating technology investments, priorities, tradeoffs, and value realization.

• Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive execution without direct organizational authority.

• Exceptional skills in executive communication, facilitation, and presentations.

• Strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information effectively.

• Capability to navigate between strategic discussions and detailed technology or execution matters.

• Preferred: Experience in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, engineering, or another complex technology-intensive environment.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting large-scale business, technology, or digital transformations.

• Preferred: Experience with organizational change management and technology adoption.

• Preferred: Experience within a federated or shared-services technology operating model.

• Preferred: Previous experience as a senior IT leader, technology strategist, enterprise architect, or transformation leader.
