This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the international trade compliance strategy and operations for the company.
• Act as the Export Control Officer and authorized official.
• Own and enhance the global trade compliance program, which encompasses export controls, import/customs compliance, sanctions, and anti-boycott regulations.
• Develop and execute policies, procedures, and internal controls across all jurisdictions where Voyager operates or sells.
• Supervise product and technology classification, including ECCN, USML, and HTS, and oversee export, re-export, and transfer licensing.
• Manage customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, tariff classification, and duty management.
• Lead the screening process for denied/restricted parties, sanctioned countries, and embargoed entities.
• Conduct risk assessments and internal audits, driving the remediation of identified gaps.
• Lead responses to compliance incidents, voluntary self-disclosures, and government inquiries.
• Provide advisory support to leadership and teams in engineering, sales, supply chain, and M&A regarding trade compliance risks.
• Build, mentor, and oversee the development of a growing trade compliance team.
• Report directly to the Chief Legal Officer as part of the Legal department.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in global trade compliance, export controls, or customs, preferably within aerospace, defense, or advanced technology sectors.
• Strong operational knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, and U.S. customs/import regulations.
• Direct experience engaging with BIS, DDTC, CBP, or OFAC.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills and the ability to advise senior executives with confidence.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
• Must be eligible to acquire necessary export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
• Preferred: experience in the space, satellite, or defense industries.
• Preferred: certifications such as Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or Certified Customs Specialist.
• Preferred: experience with global expansion, M&A due diligence, or multinational supply chain operations.
