Director of Finance – Financial Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial operations, and reporting.

• Research, maintain, and implement financial accounting systems, software, and business processes.

• Manage financial reporting and ensure compliance with state and regulatory filings.

• Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports in line with statutory accounting practices.

• Monitor and evaluate departmental work to establish efficient procedures and resource utilization, enhancing workflows.

• Handle hiring, training, counseling, termination, and performance evaluations of Accounting staff.

• Provide guidance to Accounting personnel on non-routine reporting transactions.

• Assist the Vice President – Finance with special projects, workflow enhancements, and operational matters.

• Act as the Data Governance lead for financial data management.

• Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Develop and maintain key performance indicators.

• Perform financial analysis to uncover trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

• Create and present reports for Executive leadership, the Board, and various stakeholders.

• Formulate strategies for analyzing metrics to identify trends, processes, and system improvements, and recommend actions accordingly.

• Collaborate with business units and IT to resolve financial data and reporting challenges and requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting.

• MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced financial qualifications are preferred.

• 7 to 10 years of experience in a senior finance or accounting role.

• Familiarity with financial reporting standards and regulations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.

• Advanced skills in Excel and Word are necessary, including Power Query expertise.

• High proficiency in SQL and business intelligence (BI) dashboard tools, with experience in refactoring existing queries.

• Experience with Duck Creek Insurance suite, particularly Clarity and Snowflake, is preferred.

• Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
