Director of Facilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the strategy, operations, and optimization of Pattern’s warehouse facilities and physical infrastructure.

• Oversee daily operations of facilities, including maintenance, security, janitorial services, and vendor management, in collaboration with the lease management team.

• Develop and implement a facilities and reliability strategy that aligns with the company's growth, focusing on space planning and workplace design.

• Manage budgets, capital expenditures, and initiatives for cost optimization across all facilities.

• Direct office expansions, renovations, build-outs, and the launch of new warehouses.

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure operational readiness.

• Establish preventive maintenance routines, escalation procedures, and follow-up with vendors.

• Ensure adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards, including OSHA, NFPA, electrical/life-safety, and permitting.

• Collaborate with IT, People Ops, Safety, Real Estate/Construction, and leadership to improve the employee workplace experience.

• Proactively identify and address facility risks and inefficiencies.

• Deliver projects on schedule and within budget, ensuring smooth transitions.

• Travel approximately 30% of the time to Pattern’s U.S. warehouse locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive leadership experience in facilities management, maintenance/reliability, workplace operations, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience managing both small and large office or site environments, preferably within a high-growth or tech company.

• Proven track record in leading the launch of new office spaces or facilities, including site selection, design, construction coordination, and operational readiness.

• Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) along with vendor management expertise.

• Ability to evaluate, redesign, and enhance existing facilities to adapt to changing business needs, improve employee experience, and drive cost and space efficiency.

• Experience in managing leases, budgets, contracts, and capital projects.

• Capacity to identify technical, safety, and compliance risks, knowing when to engage outside experts, and effectively drive issues to resolution.

• High emotional intelligence and excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, data-driven approach to decision-making.

• Willingness and capability to travel as needed to support site readiness and vendor coordination.

• Background in Amazon RME, fulfillment, sort center, AMZL, Sub Same Day, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, robotics, parcel, e-commerce, or other high-throughput operating environments.

• Familiarity with conveyors, sorters, MHE, dock equipment, building systems, fire/life-safety coordination, electrical safety, controls, WCS/WES interfaces, or automated material handling environments.

• Experience in developing PM programs, scorecards, inspection routines, vendor standards, critical-spares processes, and maintenance operational mechanisms.

• Knowledge of greenfield launches, brownfield retrofits, tenant improvements, startup readiness, or network expansion.

• Acquainted with OSHA, NFPA, electrical safety, insurance review, permitting, facility inspections, and industrial safety practices.

• Background in military, engineering, technical operations, or field leadership.
