Director of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee teams tasked with developing, scaling, and sustaining customer-oriented applications, APIs, internal systems, and data infrastructure.

• Propel the integration and daily utilization of AI to enhance developer efficiency, software quality, automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and engineering processes.

• Guide and nurture Engineering teams, ensuring timely project delivery that meets the expected quality standards.

• Establish and monitor engineering KPIs, development methodologies, and performance benchmarks.

• Manage backlogs, sprints, priorities, dependencies, and resource distribution.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and CS to eliminate obstacles and maintain transparency regarding project status and risks.

• Recruit, mentor, develop, and manage the performance of engineering talent.

• Contribute to software and infrastructure design, technical debt reduction, security, scalability, and high availability.

• Address critical production issues, lead root-cause investigations, and implement enhancements to prevent future occurrences.

• Collaborate with Engineering leadership regarding team structure, staffing, tools, and technology investments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leveraging AI tools and technologies in daily Engineering tasks.

• More than 10 years of software engineering experience in a SaaS environment, including expertise in creating scalable, high-availability applications.

• At least 4 years of experience with PHP using an MVC framework such as Symfony, Zend, or Laravel.

• Over 7 years of experience with MySQL or another relational database.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, with proficiency in frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar.

• More than 5 years of experience leading software engineering teams in roles such as Manager, Team Lead, or Director.

• Experience in designing, building, and supporting applications based on microservices architecture.

• Proven track record of managing complex software projects from design through production and continuous support.

• Strong background in Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and/or Kanban.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, QA, DevOps, and other business units.

• Experience in hiring, developing, and managing engineering teams.

• Excellent technical, business, and executive communication skills.

• Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Python, Node.js, C++, or Perl is advantageous.

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Knowledge of VoIP and real-time communication technologies, including SIP, RTP, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, or similar solutions.

• Understanding of call routing, telephony infrastructure, SBCs, and carrier integrations.

• Experience in developing or supporting high-volume, real-time voice systems.
