This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and define the Bioinformatics function within the Data Science development team, identifying technical tooling deficiencies and executing a roadmap for genomics-based algorithm advancement.
• Establish and uphold standards for pipeline and algorithm quality, which include review processes, validation frameworks, and documentation practices.
• Take ownership of and architect scalable AWS-based infrastructure for data science and bioinformatics.
• Guarantee the quality, reproducibility, and dependable deployment of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) algorithms.
• Implement MLOps tools and automated validation frameworks to ensure reliable algorithm deployment into clinical settings.
• Collaborate with Research, Product Development, Laboratory Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to create stable, scalable pipelines and facilitate productization.
• Lead, mentor, and recruit a high-performing team of bioinformaticians and data scientists.
• Set technical quality standards and establish clear operational responsibilities.
• Enhance technical expertise within the team to support the growing Women's Health and Organ Health product roadmaps.
• Master of Science or Ph.D. in a quantitative technical field (Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent).
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Science or Bioinformatics.
• At least 5 years of direct management experience leading technical teams.
• Hands-on experience in architecting AWS cloud infrastructure for data-intensive bioinformatics tasks and NGS pipeline operations.
• Capability to independently identify capability gaps, construct scalable infrastructure, and drive execution without awaiting formalized structure.
• Strong communication abilities to foster cross-functional alignment among Research, Engineering, and Quality teams.
• Proven history of developing bioinformatics talent and delivering computational pipelines that support commercial product development.
• Preferred: experience in developing software and pipelines within regulated environments (CLIA, FDA, or ISO framework).
• Preferred: experience with MLOps frameworks and pipeline tools (MLflow, Nextflow, WDL, Docker).
• Preferred: advanced knowledge of statistical inference, machine learning, and genomic data processing.
