This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Personally underwrite substantial commercial credit requests, including analyzing audited and CPA-reviewed financials utilizing AI.
• Collaborate with agency and shadow ratings while evaluating leverage, coverage, liquidity, and earnings quality.
• Conduct subsidiary bankruptcy and going-concern assessments.
• Structure transactions using initial payments, amortization, compressed exposure periods, guarantees, and vendor recourse.
• Prepare credit memos, present them to the Credit Committee, and advocate for recommendations.
• Hold delegated signing authority for requests under $500k.
• Act as a point of escalation for analysts, sales teams, and vendor partners, delivering timely and documented decisions.
• Manage exception discipline, encompassing qualification, approval, documentation, and monitoring.
• Set external memo standards and due diligence packages for syndicated and capital markets transactions.
• Collaborate with Capital Markets on eligibility criteria, concentration limits, representations and warranties, and repurchase triggers.
• Oversee referrals of requests that exceed ceilings and restricted profiles to partners and cultivate syndication relationships.
• Structure leasing deals, including FMV versus $1-out, capital versus operational treatment, residual assumptions, soft-cost caps, deferrals, guarantees, UCC filings, and collateral perfection.
• Manage cross-border structures across licensed non-US markets and restricted jurisdiction carve-outs.
• Co-manage credit policy with the VP of Risk, addressing rating tiers, limit formulas, feature eligibility, and approval authority.
• Track watch lists, delinquency and loss trends, and concentration metrics by vendor, industry, and buyer.
• Partner with systems teams on Taktile rules, bureau inputs, scorecard calibration, and manual review queues.
• Leverage data to identify areas where human credit judgment adds value compared to automated rules.
• Mentor and calibrate first- and second-line underwriters while facilitating credit calibration sessions.
• 6 to 12+ years of experience in commercial credit, including equipment leasing, vendor or captive finance, specialty finance, bank asset-based lending, or middle-market commercial lending.
• Experience personally underwriting and signing large-ticket commercial credit of $1M+ for single obligors; comfortable operating at the $2.5M level.
• Solid leasing background, including knowledge of lease structures, residuals, lessor economics, and documentation.
• Experience with syndication, including buying or selling paper, participations, or forward-flow transactions.
• Possess delegated credit authority and experience making decisions under time constraints.
• Strong credit judgment on imperfect files, including bureau-only, unaudited, private-company, thin-trade-depth, and foreign-accounting cases.
• Excellent credit memo writing skills that persuade committees and satisfy external readers.
• Daily utilization of AI for enhanced productivity and focus on high-value tasks.
• Preferred formal training in bank and/or leasing credit, CFA, CPA, or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience in multi-jurisdiction and multi-currency underwriting, particularly in UK/EU/Canada/Australia is preferred.
• Scale-up experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in SQL or BI tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with automated decision-making platforms and scorecard governance is preferred.
• Preferred experience in SaaS, hardware, mixed-ticket, or captive finance sectors.
