Director of Construction – Water Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale water infrastructure and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects.

• Administer subcontractor agreements, manage construction activities, and oversee project closeout.

• Provide active leadership to project teams, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and construction resources.

• Supervise project scope, timelines, budgets, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

• Organize, budget, forecast, monitor, and manage organizational and team resources.

• Act as the construction liaison with engineering, operations, business development, and internal teams.

• Create scopes of work, subcontractor bid packages, contract documents, and handle related negotiations.

• Assess technologies, equipment, vendors, and subcontractor methodologies.

• Oversee vendor and subcontractor coordination to ensure cost, schedule, quality, and budget adherence.

• Evaluate project submittals for quality assurance, technical precision, constructability, and customer-focused solutions.

• Manage and authorize construction costs, budgets, forecasts, monthly reports, and schedule updates.

• Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Ensure adherence to company, industry, trade, jurisdictional, and project-specific safety standards, practices, and regulations.

• Travel as necessary to support construction operations.

• Perform additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or another infrastructure-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• At least ten (10) years of experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, utility, or project management.

• Preferably experience with complex water infrastructure, AMI, municipal utility, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience in managing construction execution, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, project reporting, quality assurance, and customer expectations on intricate projects.

• Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support construction operations.

• Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, subcontractor management, commissioning, project controls, and risk management.

• Valid driver's license in good standing, issued by the state of residence.

• Preference for candidates currently living in the Central time zone.

• Experience in managing and developing direct reports with varying levels of experience (preferred).

• Experience overseeing multiple subcontractors and consultants on complex, multi-phase projects (preferred).

• Experience with municipal water infrastructure, water meter replacement, AMI/AMR deployment, utility construction, or related field implementation projects (preferred).

• Ability to manage competing priorities while cultivating positive internal and external business relationships (preferred).

• Strong verbal, written, technical communication, computer, and presentation skills (preferred).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, and cloud-based construction management software such as Procore or equivalent (preferred).

• Construction management certifications, project management certifications, or relevant state licensing (preferred).
