This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Act as the highest-ranking leader based in India and serve as the statutory Board Director/General Manager for Zapier's India entity.
• Ensure that the India entity complies fully with legal, tax, financial, and regulatory standards.
• Connect Zapier's global strategy with local execution efforts.
• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
• Collaborate with India-based managers, the Operating Committee, Deloitte, external auditors, regulatory bodies, and global leadership.
• Oversee operations in India and enhance delivery and performance across functions based in India.
• Act as the main point of contact between India operations and global leadership.
• Lead the overall operations in India and provide consistent updates to leadership in the US.
• Establish governance practices and foster a high-performance, autonomous, and values-driven remote team.
• Participate in board meetings, approve meeting minutes and resolutions, and execute statutory filings.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and Indian regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate on tax filings, audits, transfer pricing, and regulatory issues.
• Take charge of India-related personnel decisions, including hiring, compensation, performance management, and terminations.
• Work alongside HR on people strategies, talent decisions, employee relations, and the implementation of local policies.
• Ensure adherence to Indian labor laws, including POSH and state-specific requirements.
• Manage relationships with local vendors.
• Identify, monitor, and mitigate significant risks associated with operations in India.
• 15–20+ years of professional experience.
• At least 5 years in leadership roles such as GM, COO, or country head for multinational firms within India.
• Robust business acumen.
• Ability to engage and manage stakeholders within a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong expertise in financial, legal entity, and statutory compliance, including audit, tax, and transfer pricing.
• Proven experience working with Big 4 firms and/or legal advisors on matters concerning the India entity.
• Familiarity with hiring, performance management, employee relations, and exits within the Indian context.
• Comfortable undertaking statutory director responsibilities and signing board and compliance documents, with an understanding of personal liability.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to drive results within a complex, matrixed environment.
• Prior experience in establishing or expanding a Global Capability Center in India is a plus.
