This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the accounting operations that support Eightx’s portfolio of bookkeeping and Fractional CFO clients.
• Supervise the month-end closing process, ensuring that financial records are finalized accurately within two to ten business days after month-end.
• Review and approve close files, reconciliations, and working documents.
• Establish and enforce accounting standards and procedures that can withstand audit scrutiny.
• Take responsibility for accrual postings and investigate any unusual balances, P&L variances, and financial discrepancies.
• Collaborate with tax accountants and CPA firms regarding year-end adjusting entries.
• Monitor weekly bookkeeping quality and provide hands-on assistance when necessary.
• Design, create, and modify charts of accounts using Xero, QuickBooks Online, and other platforms.
• Manage multi-currency accounting, FX revaluations, and reconciliations across different currencies.
• Reconcile Shopify, Amazon, and other eCommerce integrations with the general ledger.
• Oversee accounts receivable and payable, manual journal entries, credit memos, inventory reconciliations, and year-end inventory adjustments.
• Maintain consolidated budget and actuals vs. budget reporting templates.
• Troubleshoot complex accounting issues for team members and clients.
• Act as the senior accounting point of contact for assigned clients and Fractional CFOs.
• Address client inquiries and participate in client calls, preparing summaries and action items.
• Communicate outstanding issues, open questions, and risks to stakeholders.
• Ensure timely delivery of financial reports, working files, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure adherence to sales tax, payroll, and corporate filing requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
• Research tax obligations, such as EU VAT and UK/US sales tax.
• Prepare and present weekly flash reports and monthly financial packages.
• Review the work of bookkeepers and accountants, providing feedback, mentoring team members, and promoting process improvements.
• Participate in team L10 meetings and identify blockers.
• 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting.
• At least 2 years in a Controller, Senior, or equivalent review/oversight role.
• Strong proficiency in Xero.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in eCommerce accounting, including familiarity with Shopify, Amazon Seller/Vendor, and multi-currency environments.
• Solid understanding of accrual-basis accounting, including prepaids, accruals, deferred revenue, and FX revaluation.
• A history of reviewing others’ work and ensuring the quality and accuracy of financial closings.
• Ability to investigate and clarify financial discrepancies using independent judgment and structured reasoning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including direct correspondence with clients.
• Self-motivated and highly organized; capable of managing multiple clients, deadlines, and team members simultaneously.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing processes and occasional ambiguity.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
• Availability to work from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST or 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility for client needs.
• CPA or CA qualification from India, the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Hubdoc, Dext, or Rippling.
• Prior experience in public practice or audit.
