This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and manage the daily functions of the Finance Department.
• Provide guidance, direction, and performance management for the finance team.
• Set departmental priorities, standardize processes, define expectations, and establish accountability measures.
• Direct accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closures, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and other essential functions.
• Develop, implement, and uphold GAAP-compliant accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and analyses.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting, including budget models, submissions, and variance analysis.
• Monitor the organization’s cash flow, liquidity, and cash requirements.
• Oversee grant accounting, including tracking restricted funds, billing, reporting, reimbursements, and compliance.
• Support banking relationships, treasury activities, and financial management tasks.
• Coordinate annual financial statement audit activities and respond to auditor requests.
• Assist with tax filings and necessary financial reporting.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies.
• Identify financial risks and suggest corrective measures.
• Implement financial systems, reporting, workflows, and cross-functional process improvements.
• Collaborate with Operations and IT on enhancements and integrations of financial systems.
• Keep organized financial records, documentation, and shared resources.
• Partner with department leads and senior leadership on budgeting, financial planning, and decision-making processes.
• Cultivate relationships with auditors, financial institutions, vendors, funding partners, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Escalate significant financial, operational, compliance, and risk-related issues to the Chief Financial & Operations Officer.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
• At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, or financial management.
• Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Proven experience managing month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
• Experience leading financial system implementations, reporting enhancements, or process improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience in coordinating financial statement audits.
• Familiarity with nonprofit and/or governmental accounting, fund accounting, grant management, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Experience managing grant-funded programs, including reporting, billing, compliance, and reimbursements.
• Experience in supporting procurement and contract management processes.
• Proficiency in budgeting, financial planning, cash flow forecasting, treasury activities, and financial analysis.
• Ability to assess financial operations and implement enhancements.
• Capacity to lead, organize, prioritize, and manage information efficiently.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strategic mindset regarding systems, operations, processes, and workflows.
• Ability to learn and utilize new software, technology, and financial systems.
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.
• Project management experience is an advantage.
• Prior experience with Sage, Salesforce, Asana, or similar software is a plus.
• Competitive salary range of $110,000 - $115,000 annually.
