This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Develop and expand Cengage's global Marketing Technology and Data function and team.

• Set the vision, governance, and operational model for the marketing technology and data ecosystem.

• Create and manage the marketing technology strategy and roadmap in line with business priorities and customer experience objectives.

• Convert marketing and business requirements into technology recommendations, investment priorities, and implementation strategies.

• Define the future-state MarTech ecosystem and its supporting architecture.

• Establish the marketing data vision, governance, operating model, and roadmap.

• Specify data platforms, standards, architecture, and integration strategies for personalized experiences, reliable reporting, AI, and advanced analytics.

• Lead initiatives for data quality, stewardship, taxonomy, and master data management.

• Advance marketing measurement through attribution, performance dashboards, experimentation, and actionable insights.

• Oversee marketing data operations, including pipelines, integrations, privacy, governance, and operational procedures.

• Set governance for assessing, selecting, implementing, and retiring marketing and data technologies.

• Maintain an inventory of marketing applications, integrations, licenses, and designated business owners.

• Drive technology rationalization efforts and enhance platform adoption.

• Develop standards, policies, and operating procedures.

• Manage processes for technology intake, prioritization, evaluation, and recommendations.

• Collaborate with Procurement and Finance on contracts, licensing, renewals, and spend forecasting.

• Construct business cases and technical requirements for technology investments.

• Establish vendor performance management and strategic partnerships.

• Create and implement the marketing AI roadmap.

• Identify, pilot, and scale AI-powered capabilities.

• Facilitate testing frameworks, measurement methodologies, and continuous optimization.

• Assess emerging technologies and propose innovations.

• Build collaborations across Marketing, Digital, IT, Procurement, Finance, Sales, Security, Legal, and external vendors.

• Align cross-functional roadmaps, delivery schedules, and investment priorities.

• Promote organizational adoption through enablement, change management, documentation, and standards.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a global marketing technology and data team.

• Set team goals, development plans, and success metrics.

• Recruit and retain top talent while fostering future organizational capabilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in Marketing Technology, Marketing Operations, Data Operations, Digital Marketing, Business Systems, or similar areas.

• Strong leadership skills and coaching abilities.

• Proven success in building and managing high-performing teams in complex enterprise settings.

• Experience in leading enterprise MarTech and data strategy, governance, technology transformation, or digital capability initiatives.

• Comprehensive understanding of modern marketing technology and data ecosystems, including CRM, marketing automation, web platforms, analytics, experimentation, digital asset management, customer data platforms, and AI-enabled marketing solutions.

• Extensive expertise in marketing data strategy, governance, and operations.

• Experience in developing technology roadmaps, governance frameworks, and portfolio management practices.

• Background in evaluating technology investments, managing vendors, and leading software selection processes.

• Strong business acumen with the capability to translate business objectives into technology strategies and investment recommendations.

• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.

• Preferred: Experience in developing AI strategies, piloting AI capabilities, or scaling AI adoption within marketing organizations.

• Preferred: Experience in implementing experimentation, optimization, or personalization programs.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and enterprise project governance.

• Preferred: Experience supporting global marketing teams in B2B SaaS or EdTech organizations.

• Preferred: A Master's degree or an equivalent combination of advanced education and relevant experience.
