This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Enhance the claims department through advancements in processes and technology.
• Oversee adjusters and claims to ensure timely resolutions.
• Provide reports to key stakeholders within the business.
• Collaborate across departments, including Risk, Business Operations, and Legal, on the triage, tracking, monitoring, and communication of contingent liability issues.
• Lead and mentor claims team members while fostering their growth opportunities.
• Assist with Greystar's insurable claim activities.
• Cultivate relationships with the business, vendors, property claim adjusters, broker claim representatives, and third-party administrators.
• Identify and aid in the implementation of both internal and external processes to optimize claims handling.
• Manage contingent claims issues and ensure they are tracked effectively from intake to resolution.
• Prepare release agreements and resident advisory communications.
• Address due diligence inquiries regarding claims and litigated matters.
• Monitor claims team performance through KPIs, recognize trends, and relay findings.
• Engage in and contribute to management-level discussions and updates regarding claims.
• Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely claims processing, handoff, and resolution.
• A bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Significant experience in a leadership capacity within the real estate sector is preferred.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in claims management, risk management, or insurance, particularly with multi-site or portfolio operations.
• At least 3 years of experience in supervising or managing a claims team.
• Proven experience overseeing general liability, environmental, and property claims across a substantial portfolio.
• Skilled in managing relationships with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance brokers, external counsel, and property claim adjusters.
• Experience in tracking and managing contingent liability and litigated matters alongside Legal and Risk Management.
• Strong understanding of insurance principles and coverage lines such as general liability, environmental, and umbrella/excess.
• Familiarity with resident-related liability issues typical in multifamily and property management.
• Proficient in claims management systems (e.g., Origami, RiskConsole, Ventiv) and reporting/analytics tools.
• Knowledge of release agreements, resident advisory communications, and basic legal/settlement terminology.
• Capability to analyze claims data, identify patterns, calculate KPIs (loss ratios, frequency/severity), and convert insights into actionable recommendations.
• Strong leadership abilities with a history of coaching and developing team members.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including crafting resident-facing correspondence and presenting updates to management.
• Adept at building and sustaining vendor relationships while ensuring vendors meet service standards.
• Excellent organizational skills to handle a high volume of claims and manage competing deadlines.
• Sound judgment and discretion in managing sensitive or confidential matters.
• Comfortable working collaboratively with Legal, Risk Management, and Operations teams.
• Focused on process improvement, with experience in optimizing claims workflows through technology or procedural enhancements.
