This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
• Formulate and execute innovative internal communication strategies that support the firm’s initiatives and business goals.
• Act as a strategic advisor and ghostwriter for top executives, particularly the CEO.
• Facilitate strategic and tactical discussions during bi-weekly Internal Communications Team meetings as well as monthly all-staff gatherings.
• Provide guidance to the firm on issues related to belonging, anti-racism, equity, and inclusion.
• Develop and uphold M+R’s brand identity in collaboration with the Senior Creative Director of Marketing and Brand.
• Ensure alignment of communications, programs, events, and employee experiences with the firm’s values, culture, and strategic objectives.
• Enhance employee engagement through storytelling, recognition, and communications that spotlight staff, teams, and organizational impact.
• Oversee communication planning for restructurings, new service rollouts, crises, and other changes affecting the firm.
• Aid in organizational change by implementing communication strategies, engaging stakeholders, and managing change.
• Collaborate with Marketing/Business Development and People and Culture to synchronize internal messaging, employer reputation, and workplace culture.
• Monitor Glassdoor and other employer-branding platforms, providing recommendations for addressing concerns.
• Plan and execute firm-wide teambuilding activities, all-staff conferences, leadership retreats, and various events.
• Generate and manage content for Homebase, the Broadcast newsletter, marketing digests, town halls, employee surveys, listening sessions, Slack, and other platforms.
• Identify themes, trends, and opportunities for enhancing employee and stakeholder engagement.
• Work alongside leadership and cross-functional teams to support M+R’s pivotal initiatives.
• Assist in consistently communicating M+R’s brand, creative perspective, culture, and expertise across various activities and materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of communications experience, ideally within the nonprofit sector or a professional services firm.
• Outstanding storytelling, grammar, and editing capabilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills along with active listening abilities.
• Capacity to communicate with honesty, clarity, and authenticity; engage thoughtfully with diverse viewpoints; and inspire audiences at all organizational levels.
• Proven experience in event strategy, planning, and management.
• Skill in managing event logistics, stakeholder coordination, communications, timelines, and execution from inception to completion.
• Demonstrated experience in change management.
• Background in developing and implementing communication strategies for organizational change.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty while anticipating stakeholder needs and concerns.
• Experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Established history of collaboration across teams and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
• Self-driven, collaborative, creative, capable of working independently, and able to take initiative.
• Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills with a proven record of contributing to culture-building and employee engagement.
• Strong business acumen, relationship management, strategy development, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Proven commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to work collaboratively with integrity, kindness, empathy, and authenticity.
