Senior Director of Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee Karat's comprehensive communications function, including external, internal, executive, and crisis communications.

• Establish and refine the integrated communications strategy, providing counsel to the CEO and leadership team on narrative, messaging, timing, and stakeholder impact.

• Manage media relations while fostering connections with journalists and producers across business, technology, workplace, and trade media.

• Collaborate with Product Marketing and Demand Generation to create integrated campaigns.

• Develop and maintain the CEO's presence across social media, the company blog, earned media, and speaking engagements.

• Direct internal and executive communications for significant company events.

• Oversee crisis and issue communications in collaboration with Legal, People, Sales, and Marketing teams.

• Supervise PR agencies and communications partners, ensuring measurable outcomes and tracking KPIs related to earned media, executive visibility, and employee comprehension.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 15 years of progressive communications experience, including media relations, corporate, executive, and internal/change communications.

• Significant in-house experience within a high-growth technology or B2B company navigating rapid expansion.

• Proven ability to cultivate journalist relationships and secure high-quality earned media coverage.

• Demonstrated success in crafting narratives and campaigns that connect strategy, product, and industry discourse.

• Experience in building executive platforms and coaching leaders for media appearances, speaking engagements, and critical moments.

• Outstanding writing and editorial judgment, applicable to everything from executive social media content to all-hands meeting remarks.

• Proven experience guiding communications through periods of growth or significant change, exercising discretion and sound judgment.

• Experience managing PR agencies or communication partners towards measurable outcomes.

• Familiarity with how AI is transforming hiring, talent assessment, and workforce planning is an advantage.

• Candidates must reside in CA, FL, IL, MA, MO, NY, OR, TX, or WA.
