Director, Industrial Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Establish the industrial product design function and develop a team around it.

• Implement industrial design at True Anomaly, defining the function, standards, and collaboration with hardware engineering.

• Manage the design language of hardware products through personal contributions and guidance of the design team.

• Advocate for design throughout the organization, engaging with executive and engineering teams.

• Recruit and lead a high-achieving team of industrial and product designers.

• Create visually captivating new concepts that inspire discussions and push the boundaries of innovation.

• Integrate design considerations into engineering and architectural decisions early in the process.

• Collaborate with product engineering leadership to embed exceptional design into hardware from the outset.

• Report directly to the Creative Director.

• Take charge of design programs from the initial concept to final execution.

• Engage hands-on and act swiftly while developing the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A portfolio showcasing hardware you have led or influenced, clearly detailing your decisions and rationale.

• Proven experience in leading designers, encompassing hiring and mentoring.

• Strong understanding of engineering constraints, including structural and thermal issues.

• Experience in consumer products, automotive, aerospace, robotics, medical, or industrial equipment.

• An active security clearance is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Candidates should be situated near Long Beach, CA, or Denver, CO, or be eligible for remote work within the United States.

• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible for necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations.
