This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop and oversee a grants management system covering the entire pre- and post-award cycle for restricted grants.
• Implement compliance procedures related to budgeting, donor regulations, reporting, and audits specific to grants.
• Create and sustain the organizational cost model, including cost segments, allocation methods, and structures for indirect costs.
• Price restricted proposals at full cost and assist with proposal budgets, grant terms, and negotiation of awards.
• Establish and oversee compliance frameworks for sub-awards and contracts within foreign partnerships.
• Direct financial and compliance aspects of U.S. government and institutional funding, including SAM.gov registration, adherence to Uniform Guidance, reporting, audit preparedness, and project closeout.
• Address international control vulnerabilities and formulate financial policies at the country level.
• Design the financial infrastructure for countries, including entity structures, banking arrangements, and controls.
• Set up treasury protocols to manage foreign-exchange risks and enhance currency conversion processes.
• Create a scalable operating model for international finance and propose future staffing, systems, and organizational structures.
• Collaborate on consolidated financial reporting across various entities and nations.
• Develop and implement time tracking in coordination with the Controller, FP&A, Programs, and Technology teams.
• Act as the accountable owner for outcomes related to grants management and international finance.
• Report to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and initially oversee one individual contributor.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
• Over 15 years of experience in finance within nonprofit or NGO sectors, particularly in managing institutional or restricted grants.
• Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 or similar donor compliance frameworks.
• Proven history of managing portfolios of grants from institutional foundations, private philanthropic sources, and corporate sponsors.
• Demonstrated experience in managing or significantly enhancing a grants management function.
• Familiarity with international or multi-country financial operations, including country-specific banking, entity structures, and financial controls at field offices.
• Understanding of cost allocation methodologies and the development of indirect cost rates.
• Capability to navigate ambiguity and establish functions from a minimal initial framework.
• CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to routinely lift or carry weights between 20–40 lbs.
• Capacity to remain seated or stationary for extended durations, including long flights.
• Possession of a valid passport, necessary travel visas, government-issued identification, and readiness for international travel.
• Ability to walk in conditions typical of foreign travel.
