Director, Government Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Oversee state government relations and legislative matters for the Department of State Government Relations.

• Support the Department of Legislative and Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Compliance in maintaining adherence to federal regulations.

• Advocate for the company before state legislatures and state agencies.

• Establish or suggest legislative priorities and formulate public policy stances.

• Evaluate and scrutinize state regulatory and legislative proposals.

• Advise and draft company positions, including providing testimony to legislative bodies.

• Assess operational impact evaluations as needed.

• Organize lobbying efforts.

• Inform about legislative and regulatory changes.

• Propose initiatives aimed at enhancing financial performance.

• Act as a liaison/representative to state and national health plan associations.

• Prepare and deliver reports to the Board of Directors as required.

• Assist in adhering to state laws.

• Execute other duties as assigned.

• Adhere to all policies and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Political Science, Health Administration, or a related field.

• Five to seven years of experience in government relations/lobbying with progressive responsibilities.

• 7+ years of experience in Compliance/ERM is preferred.

• A graduate degree is desirable.

• Capability to lobby state legislatures and agencies on behalf of the company.

• Familiarity with state legislative and regulatory proposals.

• Proficiency in developing public policy positions and preparing company testimony.

• Ability to assess operational impacts of legislative and regulatory modifications.

• Skill in coordinating lobbying activities.

• Competence in communicating legislative and regulatory changes.

• Capacity to assist with compliance regarding state laws.
