Director, Forensic Geotechnical Consulting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Execute forensic investigations related to geotechnical, geological, civil, and construction issues.

• Evaluate project documentation, geotechnical reports, plans, specifications, construction records, schedules, and testing data.

• Aid in identifying the causes of failures, defects, cost overruns, delays, differing site conditions, and construction disputes.

• Carry out geotechnical engineering analyses pertaining to foundations, settlement, slope stability, retaining structures, seepage, shoring, and underground works.

• Assist with field investigations, site inspections, testing programs, and root cause evaluations.

• Generate technical findings and contribute to the formulation of expert opinions.

• Draft forensic engineering reports and technical memoranda.

• Provide support to attorneys, insurers, owners, contractors, and other clients engaged in claims, arbitration, mediation, and litigation.

• Assess engineering standards of care, construction practices, and adherence to applicable codes and industry standards.

• Effectively communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Participate in high-profile disputes related to transportation, infrastructure, energy, water, underground construction, and large civil projects across North America and internationally.

• Collaborate with esteemed geotechnical and forensic engineering experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Over 1 year of experience serving as a testifying expert witness in litigation, arbitration, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes.

• More than 1 year of experience in preparing expert reports, supporting attorneys, and operating within litigation, claims, or dispute resolution contexts.

• At least 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in a consulting capacity.

• Proven experience in conducting geotechnical investigations, performing engineering analyses, and preparing technical reports.

• Strong grasp of foundations, earthwork, slope stability, retaining structures, groundwater, and related geotechnical issues.

• Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Preferred: A Master's degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering or a related area.

• Experience in assessing differing site conditions, construction defects, geotechnical failures, or matters related to professional standards of care.

• Familiarity with transportation, infrastructure, heavy civil, utility, energy, tunneling, airport, dam, or water projects.

• Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC, and other alternative delivery methods.

• Established client relationships, a book of business, or recent experience in a revenue-generating consulting or expert services capacity.
