Director, Event Operations – International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Direct the strategy, implementation, and performance of the global event portfolio.

• Provide guidance to Registration Specialists, Sales & Experience Advisors, Event Planners, and Event Coordinators.

• Supervise event programming, quality benchmarks, operational performance, and customer engagement across international markets.

• Act as the primary escalation point and Event Director for designated strategic events.

• Lead strategies for international End of Season participation, partner relationships, and growth initiatives.

• Manage partner agreements and serve as a vital resource for customers and stakeholders.

• Monitor global trends and collaborate with teams to enhance customer experience and qualification opportunities.

• Take ownership of the financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability of international events.

• Track revenue, expenses, and cost of sales, while identifying opportunities to boost efficiency and margins.

• Conduct financial assessments and authorize major expenditures in collaboration with Finance and Procurement.

• Cultivate relationships with vendors, sponsors, venues, sports commissions, CVBs, production companies, and other strategic partners.

• Collaborate with Procurement and internal stakeholders on event planning, venue strategy, and contract management.

• Oversee awards, gifts, and event-related procurement.

• Provide strategic direction for staffing, workforce planning, recruiting, training, and retention.

• Ensure payroll accuracy, staffing compliance, and workforce readiness for international events.

• Develop talent and implement solutions that support operational continuity and long-term growth.

• Collaborate with Sales, Scoring, Marketing, and other business leaders to align event strategy, customer experience, participation growth, and business objectives.

• Support initiatives that enhance Varsity Spirit's international presence and market expansion.

• Oversee compliance training and educational programs for international event personnel.

• Ensure adherence to IASF standards, governing body regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.

• Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

• Attend events, meetings, trainings, and weekend event assignments, requiring significant domestic and international travel.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• At least 7 years of progressive experience in event operations, business leadership, customer experience, or a related sector.

• Experience in leading large-scale events, managing budgets, and cultivating strategic partnerships is preferred.

• Proficient in Salesforce, Workday, Concur, and event diagramming tools (Social Tables).

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing teams.

• Strong financial acumen with the capability to manage budgets, forecasts, and margins.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

• Capability to stand and walk for extended durations during events.

• Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.

• Availability for significant domestic and international travel.

• Regular participation in events, meetings, trainings, and weekend event assignments is required.
