Director, Epidemiology – Methodological Innovation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the development of innovative real-world evidence methodologies, such as external control arms, causal inference, and the integration of longitudinal clinical data with molecular/genomic signatures.

• Manage comprehensive retrospective database analyses and design study protocols.

• Provide guidance to biopharma clients on pioneering study designs.

• Contribute to impactful publications and presentations at ISPOR, ISPE, and ASCO conferences.

• Collaborate with Key Account Directors and Business Development to uncover new methodological opportunities.

• Work alongside Data Science, Biostatistics, and Product teams to develop scalable methodologies.

• Ensure that innovative research complies with regulatory and ethical standards, including GEP and HIPAA.

• Produce high-quality research results in alignment with biopharma industry timelines.

• Mentor junior scientists and lead cross-functional teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD (preferred) or PharmD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

• 7+ years of experience in HEOR/RWE.

• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.

• Extensive knowledge in oncology is mandatory.

• Proven experience in developing or implementing advanced methodologies, such as target trial emulation, complex-cohort propensity scores, or machine-learning-augmented epidemiology.

• Proficient in R or SAS.

• Essential experience with real-world data, including EHR, claims, and/or genomic data.

• Exceptional ability to communicate complex methodological challenges to biopharma executives.

• Experience in mentoring junior scientists and leading cross-functional teams.

• Capability to adhere to regulatory and ethical standards, including GEP and HIPAA.
