Director, Environmental Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of business development and cultivate client relationships, primarily in Florida.

• Propel growth in water, energy, and various environmental services.

• Direct project teams and personnel, including subcontractors, in formulating strategies, coordinating with agencies, and preparing reports and deliverables.

• Manage project oversight, including client interactions, agency coordination, budget management, invoicing, scheduling, personnel distribution, technical strategy, and subcontractor oversight.

• Lead or provide guidance on regulatory and natural resource agency coordination and consultation in accordance with NEPA and CWA.

• Compose and evaluate technical reports and public environmental documentation.

• Conduct QA/QC reviews of project materials and other deliverables to ensure technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and fulfillment of client specifications.

• Mentor and develop staff in technical knowledge, project and client management, writing, business development, and consulting skills.

• Sustain relationships with clients and partnering teams while undertaking occasional short-term travel.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or a related field.

• At least 15 years of experience in environmental, energy, and/or natural resource projects.

• Proven track record in leading business development initiatives, including the creation of technical and cost proposals.

• A well-established industry network with private and public sector clients as well as regulatory agencies, demonstrating a successful ability to secure project work.

• Strong business development skills and a comprehensive understanding of the market landscape.

• Capacity to identify, position for, and secure new project opportunities.

• A Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or a related discipline is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge and practical experience with NEPA, CWA, ESA, agency consultation and coordination, along with a scientifically sound assessment of project impacts.

• Ability to collaborate across divisions while fostering and maintaining relationships with clients and teaming partners.
