Director, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Develop a resilient engineering organization tailored for the AI era

• Take charge of reliability, engineering expenses, and the adoption of AI-assisted development

• Cultivate and maintain a robust engineering team with redundancies across tools, vendor partnerships, and institutional knowledge

• Oversee intricate cross-team programs, dependencies, launch timelines, and customer delivery schedules

• Identify schedule risks, resolve conflicting priorities, and sustain delivery momentum

• Set up ownership structures, escalation protocols, on-call procedures, reliability standards, and conduct incident postmortems

• Manage accountability for cloud, vendor, and contractor costs while collaborating with Finance on budgeting and forecasting

• Drive organizational transformation, including restructures, outsourced support, and acquisitions

• Ensure clear documentation of handoffs across roles

• Collaborate with Product on release scope and Platform on architectural alignment

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in software development

• Proven track record of managing engineering teams of 30 or more in a dynamic, expanding SaaS environment

• At least 2 years of experience managing through engineering managers and leads

• Practical experience in conducting iterative, evidence-based trials of AI-assisted development methodologies

• Skilled in instilling discipline within teams to provide AI systems with clear, well-structured context

• Experience in managing complex, cross-team programs with interdependent workflows against strict launch deadlines

• Capable of holding other teams accountable to a collective critical path

• Familiarity with site reliability practices

• Working knowledge of FinOps principles

• Experience leading teams through significant organizational changes, including transitions involving vendor or contractor workforces

• Strong foundation in agile methodologies and core software engineering principles, including programming languages, architecture, data structures, and databases
