Director – End Market Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and execute a long-term strategy for the development and support of recycling infrastructure that aligns with the organization’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) objectives and material-specific targets.

• Identify optimal partner companies and spearhead engagement initiatives to enhance growth and development.

• Evaluate business cases, feasibility studies, and capital proposals from facility operators and service providers.

• Assist the VP of End Markets in building and sustaining relationships with the executive teams of recycling facilities.

• Collaborate on the collection and analysis of current end-market capacity data.

• Supervise third-party technical audits and environmental evaluations.

• Structure and negotiate funding agreements, grants, and performance-based contracts with operators of recycling facilities.

• Assess facility performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs) in agreements.

• Identify underperforming investments and devise remediation plans or exit strategies.

• Evaluate the recycling infrastructure landscape to identify gaps and opportunities.

• Recognize partners and potential investors for new applications, plants, and facility expansions.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, partners, and industry trade organizations.

• Collaborate with Compliance & Regulatory Affairs, Data & Analytics, Finance, and Legal teams.

• Represent the organization at industry conferences and government working groups.

• Report directly to the VP of End Markets.

• Perform additional duties as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.

• An advanced degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Over 10 years of operational experience in business development and expansion, preferably within recycling facilities or related sectors.

• A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience is essential.

• Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

• Profound understanding of EPR regulatory frameworks across various U.S. jurisdictions.

• Strong capabilities in business case analysis and risk assessment.

• Technical expertise in recycling end-market dynamics and process technology.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for synthesizing complex technical, financial, and regulatory information.

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

• Experience in developing recycling solutions for end markets involving various materials.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with adaptability.
