This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Develop and execute HARMAN’s long-term corporate sustainability and ESG strategy and objectives.
• Oversee advancements towards ESG initiatives and targets, including decarbonization strategies and GHG reduction goals.
• Provide guidance to the HARMAN ESG Committee and internal leaders regarding sustainability priorities and program outcomes.
• Incorporate ESG issues into enterprise risk management and establish mitigation action plans.
• Manage the budget for the corporate sustainability program and collaborate with external consultants on sustainability strategy and reporting.
• Coordinate with Business Division Sustainability Leads, Supply Chain Risk Management, Procurement, and Manufacturing stakeholders.
• Establish and oversee global ESG program governance forums and mechanisms for cross-functional collaboration.
• Boost employee engagement through sustainability training and effective communication strategies.
• Act as the liaison between HARMAN and Samsung to ensure alignment on ESG and sustainability efforts.
• Guarantee that supply chain and internal due diligence processes address social issues and compliance with disclosure requirements.
• Ensure adherence to global sustainability and ESG disclosure laws and regulations.
• Direct external ESG reporting and disclosure efforts, enhancing data quality, collection systems, internal controls, and auditing processes.
• Cultivate expertise in environmental data and carbon accounting, while managing corporate environmental dashboards.
• Oversee the preparation of HARMAN’s annual voluntary sustainability report.
• Engage with strategic ESG assessment organizations such as CDP and EcoVadis.
• Assist with internal and external inquiries related to ESG strategy and performance data.
• Supervise both internal and external sustainability communications.
• Manage relationships with membership-based sustainability organizations.
• Represent HARMAN’s ESG and sustainability initiatives in community networks, industry forums, conferences, and webinars.
• Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports and sustainability professionals in a dotted-line reporting structure.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a large, global, highly matrixed, and dynamic organization.
• Strong understanding of global and industry-specific sustainability trends, challenges, and opportunities.
• Proven experience in developing and scaling corporate sustainability and ESG programs and decarbonization strategies, including establishing meaningful goals and KPIs.
• Ability to evaluate and translate sustainability frameworks, standards, regulations, and other pressures/trends into actionable business cases and corporate plans, securing support from divisions, business units, and leadership.
• Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and leadership, building consensus, and executing concurrent, complex strategic sustainability initiatives and programs.
• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with experience in engaging internal and external stakeholders and representing the company in public forums, as well as with executive leadership and the Board.
• Experience in cultivating and managing partnerships with private sector entities, NGOs, governments, and multilateral organizations.
• Knowledge of best-in-class sustainability, sourcing, and procurement practices.
• Capability to analyze complex data and create internal controls to ensure data integrity.
• Experience in managing external counsel, agencies, and/or contractor support.
• A graduate-level degree in business, sustainability, engineering, or law is advantageous.
• Certification in sustainability, corporate responsibility, project management, or a related field is a plus.
• Familiarity with the Automotive and/or Consumer Electronics industry and manufacturing processes is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
• Successful completion of a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
