This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
β’ Oversee the royalty business-event procedure and align recognized revenue with royaltable revenue across various media types and accounting locations.
β’ Lead audit initiatives related to royalty calculations, AI usage limitations, and compliance with licensor agreements.
β’ Facilitate timely resolution of audit-related issues.
β’ Ensure that royalty processes and controls conform to SOX and internal audit standards.
β’ Establish royalty and compliance specifications for new product launches and international expansions.
β’ Collaborate with the Content and Product teams on requirements, comprehensive testing, and approvals.
β’ Track usage, pricing, and adoption of AI-driven features.
β’ Provide business units with insights on costs, compliance, and commercial implications.
β’ Manage royalty workstreams during significant system migrations.
β’ Work with technology and cross-functional project teams on testing, approvals, and monitoring post-launch.
β’ Offer commercial and royalty insights during licensor renegotiations and the establishment of new licensing frameworks.
β’ Develop business cases and perform financial analyses for content investments and commercial strategies.
β’ Lead and nurture a team of financial analysts.
β’ Set performance objectives and mentor for technical expertise and commercial acumen.
β’ Counsel Business Unit finance leaders on royalty-related risks and opportunities.
β’ Cultivate cross-functional relationships with stakeholders in Finance, Content, Product, and Business Units.
β’ 8+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, specifically in royalty, licensing, or content-rights management.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of direct people management experience.
β’ Familiarity with financial/ERP systems like PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, or similar royalty management platforms.
β’ Strong analytical capabilities; adept at reconciling high transaction volumes and complex data across multiple systems and currencies.
β’ Experience in managing or developing a team.
β’ Exceptional communication skills, capable of tailoring messages for both technical and business audiences.
β’ In-depth understanding of standards and practices within the finance/accounting discipline.
β’ Working knowledge of related finance/accounting areas.
β’ Proven track record in managing a team of professionals and/or junior managers.
β’ Experience in prioritizing tasks, allocating resources, and achieving departmental objectives.
β’ Accountability for team outcomes, including budget and resource management.
β’ Strong business acumen and insight generation skills.
β’ Ability to persuade and align stakeholders across departments and integrate with the broader division.
β’ Solid performance management abilities.
β’ Experience in coaching and developing talent.
β’ Previous experience in publishing, media, legal information, or another licensing-heavy industry is preferred.
