Director, Content Royalties – Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee the royalty business-event process and align recognized revenue with royalty revenue across various media types and accounting locations.

• Direct audit initiatives related to royalty calculations, restrictions on AI usage, and compliance with licensor agreements.

• Ensure that royalty processes and controls satisfy SOX and internal audit standards.

• Establish royalty and compliance requirements for new product launches and international expansions.

• Collaborate with Content and Product teams on requirements, comprehensive testing, and approvals.

• Track the usage, pricing, and adoption of AI-enabled features, providing insights into cost, compliance, and commercial impact.

• Manage royalty workstreams during significant system migrations, transitioning from legacy royalty platforms to PeopleSoft/Fusion, Salesforce CPQ, WAM, and PIM.

• Work alongside technology and cross-functional project teams on testing, approvals, and post-launch monitoring.

• Offer commercial and royalty insights during renegotiations with licensors and the establishment of new licensing structures.

• Develop business cases and perform financial analyses for content investments and commercial decisions.

• Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts.

• Provide guidance to Business Unit finance leaders on royalty risks and opportunities while fostering cross-functional relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, including expertise in royalty, licensing, or content-rights management.

• At least 2 years of direct management experience.

• Familiarity with financial/ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, or comparable royalty platforms.

• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to reconcile high transaction volumes and complex data across different systems and currencies.

• Experience in managing or developing a team.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of tailoring messages for both technical and business audiences.

• Comprehensive knowledge of standards and practices within the field, along with a working understanding of adjacent finance/accounting disciplines.

• Proven track record in managing a team of professionals and/or junior managers, setting priorities, allocating resources, and executing departmental plans.

• Responsible for team outcomes, including budget and resource management.

• Strong business acumen and skills in generating insights.

• Ability to persuade and align stakeholders across the department and integrate with the broader division.

• Solid performance management skills with increasing experience in coaching and developing talent.

• Experience in publishing, media, legal information, or another licensing-intensive industry is preferred.
