Director – Construction, Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership and cultivate other leaders through mentoring and comprehensive construction management guidance in a designated market segment or specific projects.

• Implement best practices, ensure process utilization, and uphold quality, safety, and risk management protocols.

• Uphold the company’s values and beliefs while acting as a cultural manager.

• Establish and nurture strategic client partnerships, promoting mutual trust and respect.

• Take full responsibility for assigned clients, fostering relationships that enhance the company’s competitive edge.

• Meet regularly with clients to assess needs, define success metrics, and identify opportunities for value addition.

• Guide project managers and on-site supervisors in controlling and monitoring construction activities.

• Ensure that projects set clear objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards, and are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with corporate policies.

• Lead safety and quality initiatives and foster a culture of excellence within project teams, confirming that client metrics are achieved.

• Ensure project managers oversee receivables, budgets, cash flow, income/expenses, cost-to-complete reports, and other related financial elements.

• Mentor subordinate project managers through evaluations, coaching, formal training, and diverse work experiences.

• Identify potential successors for Director of Construction roles.

• Collaborate with general superintendents and peer Directors of Construction regarding project manager and site-team selection.

• Oversee wage reviews, work assignments, bonus assessments, internal promotions, and similar responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.

• At least five years of directly relevant experience in utility-scale natural gas power generation, heavy industrial sectors, or EPC field execution.

• Proven expertise in construction techniques, estimating, construction management, financial oversight, and administrative functions.

• Demonstrated capability in leading multiple project teams concurrently.

• Strong grasp of construction engineering and design principles.

• Familiarity with electrical construction and power delivery systems.

• Conceptual thinking skills with the ability to create comprehensive work plans and management schedules.

• Knowledge of estimating strategies and methodologies.

• Understanding of construction contracts, regulations, and cost control systems.

• Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication abilities.

• Strong leadership qualities; adept at organizing, utilizing, and motivating team members to swiftly adapt to changes in the construction schedule.

• Conflict management skills are essential.

• Ability to strategically operate within an approved budget, conserve resources, and contribute to profitability and revenue growth.

• Excellent organizational, supervisory, and decision-making/problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera, and CTC net.

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is necessary.

• Willingness to travel extensively.

• Primary construction experience with reciprocating engine power plants, modular/skidded aeroderivative turbine installations, modular simple-cycle gas plants, and fuel cell power generation systems, including associated balance-of-plant, fuel gas systems, and interconnection scopes.

• Construction experience with combined-cycle (CCGT) gas power generation, larger-frame simple-cycle (OCGT) power generation, midstream oil and gas infrastructure, and heavy industrial construction.

• PMP Certification is required.
