Director, Business Development – Key Accounts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Drive business growth and enhance market share for Travel Insured International within travel agency distribution channels.

• Identify, engage, and establish new partnerships with top-tier and mid-tier travel agencies across both consortia and non-consortia channels.

• Initiate and activate new business accounts for personal production, while transitioning suitable accounts to Regional Business Development Managers.

• Formulate and implement strategic growth plans to meet new business premium and account objectives.

• Create and present customized presentations, proposals, co-op programs, and bonus override structures.

• Represent TII at industry conferences, trade shows, and consortium events.

• Achieve or surpass weekly KPIs related to sales activities, pipeline development, and new business generation.

• Act as the primary contact for a designated portfolio of key accounts.

• Increase revenue, market share, and overall health of the book for assigned accounts.

• Conduct regular reviews, address any concerns, and identify growth prospects.

• Develop and execute strategic plans for accounts to enhance the adoption of products and services.

• Address client issues utilizing internal resources and cross-functional support.

• Build and sustain relationships with travel agency owners, consortia, and industry stakeholders.

• Monitor trends in the industry, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.

• Support team members while promoting a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture.

• Collaborate with Regional Business Development Managers to onboard and transition newly established accounts.

• Oversee pipeline activity, forecasting, account performance, and initiative tracking in Salesforce and other reporting tools.

• Leverage AI tools and data-driven insights to uncover opportunities, optimize outreach, enhance conversion, and report performance to senior leadership.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is mandatory.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in the travel industry is required.

• Proven success in acquiring new business, increasing revenue, and surpassing sales targets.

• Demonstrated experience in managing and expanding large, complex, or high-profile accounts.

• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with travel agency owners, consortia, and industry stakeholders.

• Experience representing a company at industry conferences, trade shows, and events, including public speaking or panel engagement.

• Strong understanding of the travel agency distribution model, including consortia, host agencies, and independent agencies.

• Familiarity with industry organizations, conferences, and trade associations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate-level skills in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneNote.

• Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is preferred; ability to manage pipeline, track opportunities, and generate reports.

• Working knowledge of AI tools and a willingness to utilize technology to boost productivity, outreach, and sales performance.

• Willingness to travel 25%–35% of the time by car, plane, and/or train, including evenings and weekends, both domestically and internationally; a current passport is required.

• Capacity to attend multiple conferences and events annually, including international travel.

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote setting.

• Strong time management and organizational skills with the capability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with changing targets and expectations.

• Must consistently meet established weekly KPI levels for sales activities, pipeline development, and new business generation.
