Director – Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee enterprise-wide business impact analysis initiatives and uphold recovery time and recovery point objectives across business processes, systems, and markets.

• Create, document, and sustain business continuity playbooks for key business units and operational sectors.

• Convert business-defined recovery requirements into actionable disaster recovery planning criteria for IT teams.

• Develop and implement an annual disaster recovery testing program.

• Conduct tabletop exercises, after-action reviews, and track remediation efforts.

• Manage an enterprise-wide gap register and remediation roadmap.

• Coordinate crisis response activities from the business side during declared events.

• Evaluate the resilience of critical vendors and third parties, and facilitate joint validation exercises as necessary.

• Assist with acquisitions and market onboarding by identifying continuity gaps and incorporating newly acquired entities into the enterprise program.

• Generate KPI-based executive reports for senior leadership and stakeholders regarding program maturity, testing results, vendor posture, and outstanding recovery gaps.

• Collaborate across clinical operations, revenue cycle, finance, human resources, and information technology.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or operational resilience program management.

• Proven experience in a healthcare setting with a solid understanding of clinical operations, revenue cycle, and healthcare regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to lead business impact analysis, create business continuity playbooks, and manage disaster recovery testing in a complex, multi-site organization.

• Experience interacting with C-Suite leadership and presenting program results to executive audiences.

• Extensive knowledge of BC/DR frameworks and standards, such as DRII GPG, ISO 22301, and NIST SP 800-34.

• Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards, including HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST.

• CBCP, CBCI, or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer (or equivalent) is required; CBCP is preferred, or a commitment to obtain within 12 months.

• Outstanding ability to translate complex continuity and recovery concepts into straightforward executive communications and presentations.

• Strong program management skills, encompassing structured planning, dependency management, and accountability tracking.

• Capability to drive execution across organizational boundaries without direct authority.

• Excellent facilitation skills for executive-level tabletop exercises and after-action reviews.

• Ability to develop quantitative disruption cost models that encompass revenue impact, labor costs, and regulatory exposure.

• High credibility and composure in executive environments.

• Capacity to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a dynamic, geographically dispersed setting.

• Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
