Director, BI & Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and continuously enhance a scalable enterprise business intelligence and reporting architecture across various divisions, regions, and locations.

• Spearhead the reporting reset by merging conflicting metric definitions into a single governed set linked to financial outcomes.

• Design models and definitions that remain robust through source-system changes and reconcile reporting across divisions utilizing different ERPs.

• Create consistent executive, regional, branch, and functional reporting with clear pathways from results to underlying drivers.

• Establish a governed self-service analytics environment that balances accessibility, consistency, and data integrity.

• Streamline existing reports and tools, eliminating redundant or low-value reporting.

• Assess the current Sigma environment against alternative BI platforms and recommend a forward-looking toolset and migration strategy.

• Set standards for KPI definitions, dashboard development, governance, deployment, access, and lifecycle management.

• Construct an integrated analytical framework linking operating activities to revenue, profitability, and financial performance.

• Develop reporting for marketing funnel KPIs, sold work, cancellations, backlog, scheduling, production, labor, capacity, utilization, routing, customer mix, service, channel, price, volume, mix, and timing.

• Collaborate with FP&A to synchronize operational reporting with actuals, budget, forecasts, and prior-year data.

• Create pacing and forecasting views that account for production days, holidays, weekends, seasonality, weather, backlog, and year-to-go expectations.

• Generate diagnostic reporting that clarifies what changed, why it changed, and what actions are needed.

• Partner with IT to align BI solutions with enterprise architecture, data standards, system integrations, and technology strategy.

• Define analytical data models and semantic structures across organizational, service, customer, channel, and time dimensions.

• Analyze data, validate business logic, challenge technical solutions, and directly build solutions as needed.

• Lead external delivery partners and translate Finance and Operations priorities into a structured development roadmap.

• Act as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Establish quality assurance, data quality, and deployment practices.

• Utilize AI and development tools to enhance analytical and development productivity.

• Foster adoption through stakeholder engagement, training, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, FP&A, or related functions, with leadership responsibilities included.

• Proven experience in designing and scaling enterprise BI/reporting environments.

• Background in a multi-unit, multi-location, or operationally complex business; experience in field services, home services, route-based services, retail, healthcare services, or similar industries is preferred.

• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including skills in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel functionalities.

• Extensive experience with modern BI platforms such as Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent tools.

• Familiarity with dimensional modeling, semantic layers, data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.

• Practical experience with a modern cloud data stack, including Snowflake or a comparable warehouse, dbt or similar transformation tools, and managed ingestion solutions like Fivetran.

• Exposure to maintaining reporting continuity during an ERP or core system migration is preferred.

• Experience in directing technical development teams, whether internal or contracted.

• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Demonstrated curiosity and practical application of AI and emerging analytics tools.
