This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and execution of a statewide strategy for California.

• Develop organizing and governance frameworks to enhance membership and support local elected officials throughout California.

• Act as a representative for Local Progress, the Impact Lab, and the state chapter in statewide coalitions, campaigns, and strategic discussions.

• Integrate Local Progress into California’s movement ecosystem as a reliable partner in advocacy and organizing.

• Recruit and engage members based in California.

• Provide policy, communications, and campaign assistance to members.

• Build and nurture relationships with allies, state and local partners, labor organizations, and funders.

• Position Local Progress as a coalition partner for trans-local and statewide initiatives.

• Design and implement leadership development programs at both local and statewide levels.

• Collaborate across teams on caucuses, state chapter initiatives, academies, labs, reports, meetings, and online products.

• Supervise a team of up to three organizers and support their professional growth.

• Manage a designated fundraising portfolio and seek out funding opportunities.

• Assist with national policy, organizing, and campaign initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must live in California, preferably in Northern California.

• 7–10+ years of experience in organizing, strategic campaigning, and/or advocacy.

• At least 3 years of proven success in supervising staff across various issues and roles.

• 3–5 years of demonstrated success in fundraising.

• Experience in relational organizing.

• Capability to engage and mobilize diverse groups in local contexts and virtual environments.

• Proven experience in designing membership-based and/or issue-driven organizing strategies.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.

• Skill in creating and executing organizing work plans.

• Capacity to foresee challenges, navigate obstacles, identify stakeholders, and independently drive projects.

• Commitment to an inside/outside strategy and movement governance.

• Proven dedication to social, racial, and economic justice.

• Strong interest in local policy, politics, and government.

• Willingness to work flexible, extended hours when required.

• Availability to travel approximately 1–2 times per month, up to 6 days per month.

• Experience in leading and managing multi-stakeholder coalitions is preferred as an ideal candidate qualification.

• Previous experience collaborating with elected officials is preferred as an ideal candidate qualification.
