This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, lead, and expand a team of analytics engineers and analysts specializing in content metadata and subscriber data domains.
• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for the infrastructure associated with content and subscriber data.
• Implement and advocate for coding standards, data governance practices, and documentation protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business executive teams to synchronize data priorities with the company's strategy.
• Oversee the strategy and planning for content metadata pipelines, including title catalogs, rights and licensing windows, genres, talent, franchise/series hierarchies, and availability.
• Manage the strategy and planning for subscriber data pipelines, encompassing acquisition, plan tiers and pricing adjustments, billing status, and cancellation or win-back events.
• Guarantee reliable content metadata models for accurate reporting on titles, franchises, and windows.
• Ensure subscriber models encompass the entire subscriber lifecycle for retention, churn, and lifetime value analysis.
• Propel data quality initiatives across both domains.
• Detect and rectify duplicate titles, conflicting rights windows, erroneous taxonomy tagging, billing discrepancies, plan misclassification, and duplicate accounts.
• Contribute to anomaly detection systems and operational dashboards that monitor content catalog health, subscriber funnel performance, and data quality KPIs.
• Work alongside senior leaders in content operations, programming, licensing, subscriber growth, retention, billing operations, product development, and engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, analytics, computer science, MIS, data engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• More than 10 years of experience in analytical engineering, data engineering, or data analytics.
• Experience in managing or leading a team.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Extensive knowledge of ETL/ELT principles, data architecture, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience in building and scaling data platforms and pipelines using tools such as Databricks, Airflow, Spark, or similar.
• Direct experience with content metadata, including title catalogs, rights, windowing data, and genre or talent taxonomies; comparable structured entertainment or media data is acceptable.
• Direct experience with subscriber and subscription data, including acquisition, billing, plan tiers, and churn or retention events.
• Background in a subscription or direct-to-consumer business.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders across various functions.
• Capability to translate ambiguous business needs into a clear technical strategy.
• Proficiency in cloud-based data environments such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Experience with BI tools like Looker and Tableau.
• Proven track record in establishing data hygiene practices, including version control, code review standards, testing, and documentation, within a team.
• Excellent judgment and attention to detail when managing competing priorities.
• Experience leading content and subscriber data teams concurrently or guiding a team through the integration of separate domains.
• Familiarity with content rights and licensing data, including availability windows and territory restrictions.
• Expertise in subscriber lifecycle analytics, including churn modeling, cohort analysis, or LTV calculations.
• Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for data transformation or orchestration.
• Understanding of streaming media or direct-to-consumer digital products.
• Experience in building or scaling anomaly detection systems.
• Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices, particularly concerning subscriber PII, billing data, and licensed content.
