Staff Data Engineer, Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +20 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the development of Afresh’s analytics platform.

• Enhance, expand, and optimize data analytics architecture to ensure reliable and accessible data products.

• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization to identify data requirements.

• Create extensible dimensional models, semantic-layer metrics, and agentic context and tooling to deliver consistent and reliable AI-assisted insights.

• Advance data quality and data governance processes.

• Mentor and enhance the skills of other engineers.

• Partner with data engineers, product engineers, product managers, data scientists, and operations specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in a data engineer, analytics engineer, or comparable role.

• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities, with a proven track record of fostering cross-team and cross-functional collaboration and information sharing.

• Eagerness to learn new skills and explore unfamiliar domains.

• Strong sense of ownership and agency, proactively identifying and resolving issues without needing direction.

• Proficient in advanced SQL concepts, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse design.

• Familiarity with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery.

• Skilled in dbt.

• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow/Astronomer, Dagster, or similar solutions.

• Knowledge of modern semantic layers such as LookML, Cube.dev, Databricks Metrics Views, or dbt MetricFlow.

• Experience in designing and optimizing pipelines for datasets exceeding a billion rows.

• Background in working with and enhancing AI models to generate high-quality code and dependable analytics.
