Director, Absence Consulting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients to address intricate absence management issues from strategy to execution.

• Offer consulting expertise on projects related to absence and disability management, including plan design, strategic planning, modeling, funding, vendor assessment, benchmarking, compliance, and audit support.

• Assist with evaluations of vendor capabilities and annual Requests for Information (RFIs).

• Act as the main point of contact for the Strategic Non-Medical Solutions client service team.

• Create and oversee project plans that involve absence assessments and client teams.

• Develop and deliver final client outputs in accordance with objectives, budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

• Manage client team expectations and raise issues to leadership as necessary.

• Ensure that work products are aligned with clients’ broader business goals.

• Establish trusted advisor relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Maintain expertise across various absence management areas and stay updated on legislation, industry trends, and vendor developments.

• Disseminate industry insights with the organization and clients.

• Create articles, whitepapers, and other content showcasing thought leadership.

• Represent the organization at industry conferences, client forums, and webinars.

• Build connections and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Mentor and assist internal team members in absence management.

• Contribute to special projects and manage a library of projects, RFPs, templates, market data, and deliverables.

• Support client retention and growth while identifying new and expanded solution prospects.

• Lead and manage direct reports through training, coaching, performance planning, and evaluation.

• Balance team workloads and case assignments effectively.

• Promote professional development and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BA or BS degree in a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in leading teams within a high-performance consulting environment.

• More than 15 years of experience and success in designing/managing group disability and absence management plans within consulting, brokerage, or carrier settings.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks.

• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.

• Competence in producing executive-level reports and electronic presentations, as well as managing relevant electronic media.

• Proficient in public speaking, articulating ideas clearly and knowledgeably.

• Skilled in analyzing and re-engineering operations and procedures, developing policies, and implementing new strategies and procedures.

• Comprehensive understanding of business planning principles, practices, techniques, and tools.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

• Proven sound judgment and decision-making skills.

• Capability to identify potential challenges and offer proactive solutions.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Salesforce.

• Willingness to travel 40–75%, based on client engagements and business requirements.
