This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and cultivate a project team that focuses on design, integration, and testing for Grid Automation initiatives.
• Establish, strategize, and execute SCADA, Substation Automation, Integrated Energy Management Solutions, Substation Networks, cybersecurity solutions, and related site services.
• Lead the engineering team by defining strategic objectives, setting up processes, and establishing key performance indicators.
• Uphold exemplary standards in project engineering, efficiency, and timely delivery.
• Monitor and manage resource utilization in collaboration with the Project Management Office.
• Create offerings for Substation Automation Services.
• Guide, mentor, and nurture teams across System Design, Integration, and Testing.
• Formulate and implement the vision and operational framework for the Digital Control System Engineering organization.
• Foster technical excellence, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.
• Lead EHS/Safety initiatives and performance while ensuring adherence to GE policies and processes.
• Confirm that engineering teams and subcontractors receive appropriate training and possess necessary qualifications.
• Guarantee consistent, high-quality engineering outputs.
• Evaluate and enhance automation portfolio options, including DS Agile, IEMS, G500, GPG, and D20.
• Advise and assess project-critical design choices for technical compliance.
• Assist in bids and project execution by defining system-level concepts and integration strategies.
• Collaborate with global engineering, project management, and supply chain teams to facilitate system integration and commissioning handover.
• Promote design standardization, digital engineering tools, and best practices.
• Develop succession plans and competency enhancement strategies.
• Encourage talent development through coaching, technical training, and cross-project experiences.
• Attract and retain top-performing engineers.
• Evaluate and cultivate external resource contractors.
• Collaborate with NPI, Tendering, and Regional Commercial teams on technical strategies and resource allocation.
• Provide tender estimations and feedback on projects post-delivery.
• Represent Digital Control System Engineering in technical discussions, customer meetings, and audits.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 8 years of experience in electricity and automation engineering, encompassing distribution automation, substation digitization, diagnostics, APM, device management, and cybersecurity.
• 3 years of experience in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, IEC 61850, firewalls, cybersecurity, and networking.
• 5 years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel 30% of the time within the US and Canada.
• A Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
• A Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP and NIST regulations.
• Knowledge of Modbus, OPC (DA, AE, UA), DNP3, and IEC61850 network communication protocols.
• Experience with smart grid technologies and the integration of renewable energy.
