This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage a project team of technical professionals committed to the design, integration, and testing of Grid Automation initiatives.
• Define, strategize, and execute SCADA, Substation Automation, Integrated Energy Management Solutions, Substation Networks, cybersecurity measures, and related site services.
• Oversee the engineering team, establish team strategy, and set up key performance indicators.
• Uphold high standards in project engineering, efficiency, and timely delivery in accordance with EMH regulations.
• Monitor and manage resource utilization with the Project Management Office to guarantee efficiency and meet project demands.
• Develop Substation Automation Services offerings to enhance the growth of Grid Automation services and solutions.
• Lead, mentor, and nurture teams within System Design, Integration, and Testing.
• Define and implement the vision and operational model for the Digital Control System Engineering organization.
• Foster technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead EHS/Safety initiatives and performance while ensuring adherence to GE regulations and procedures.
• Ensure that engineering teams and subcontractors receive appropriate training and possess the necessary qualifications.
• Guarantee consistent, high-quality engineering deliverables.
• Analyze and optimize automation portfolio options, such as DS Agile, IEMS, G500, GPG, and D20.
• Guide and assess project-critical design decisions to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Support bid and project execution by outlining system-level concepts and integration strategies.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams, project management, and supply chain on system integration and commissioning handover.
• Promote design standardization, digital engineering tools, and best practices throughout the DCS domain.
• Create succession and competency development plans.
• Encourage talent growth through coaching, technical training, and cross-project experience.
• Attract and retain high-performing engineers.
• Qualify and develop external contractors to enhance skills and manage peak workloads.
• Partner with NPI, Tendering, and Regional Commercial teams on technical strategies and resource allocation.
• Provide tender estimations and feedback on project delivery.
• Represent Digital Control System Engineering in technical forums, client meetings, and audits.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 8 years of experience in electricity and automation engineering, covering distribution automation, substation digitization, diagnostics, APM, device management, and cybersecurity.
• 3 years of experience in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, IEC 61850, firewalls, cybersecurity, and networking.
• 5 years of managerial experience leading engineering teams.
• Proficient in English.
• Willingness to travel 30% within the US and Canada.
• Understanding of cyber asset protection regulations relevant to the utilities sector, including NERC CIP and NIST.
• Familiarity with network communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC (DA, AE, UA), DNP3, and IEC61850.
• Experience with smart grid technologies and renewable energy integration.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with the capacity to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience in a multicultural work environment.
• Proven leadership experience in a project-based setting.
• Strong business acumen, execution-focused approach, process application, PM metrics, and teamwork skills.
