Developer Relations Documentation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the accuracy and health of Arize's product documentation as products develop.

• Develop automation tools to monitor the quality of documentation, identify discrepancies between documentation and code, test code samples, and draft updates for human review.

• Enhance documentation usability for both coding agents and humans by creating structured content, machine-readable indexes, and measuring agent-task completion.

• Write and update tutorials, cookbooks, and open-source demo repositories.

• Ensure that Arize is well-documented by integration partners, framework maintainers, and authors of courses and curricula.

• Design onboarding experiences that enable new users to achieve their first working evaluation independently.

• Transform community feedback into actionable insights for both open-source and commercial product roadmaps.

• Supply source material for field marketing, SEO, and content focused on answer-engine websites.

• Engage with the developer community at conferences, trade shows, meetups, Slack, and other channels.

• Act as the initial point of contact for community product inquiries and guide members to the appropriate teams.

• Collaborate with the Product team to prototype new features and product directions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, documentation engineering, developer relations, or a related engineering role with significant writing responsibilities.

• Exceptional technical communication skills evidenced by public-facing documents, blog posts, or videos.

• Up-to-date engineering expertise, including proficiency in docs-as-code workflows, CI, and familiarity with working in a repository.

• Practical knowledge of LLM-based application development, including agents, RAG, and orchestration frameworks.

• A genuine interest in understanding how agents interact with and utilize documentation, along with a desire to build relevant tools.

• A curious and self-driven learner, comfortable navigating the uncertainties of a startup environment and rapid iterations.

• Availability to attend occasional evening and weekend in-person events locally or within a few hours' travel.

• Familiarity with the evaluations and observability domain, including products like Arize (preferred).

• Experience in developing documentation automation, such as link checking, snippet testing, style linting, or LLM-assisted reviews (preferred).

• Perspectives on llms.txt, documentation MCP servers, and machine-readable documentation methodologies (preferred).

• Active participation in technical communities on platforms such as X, Reddit, Slack, Discord, Dev.to, or similar (preferred).

• Experience in running or contributing to open-source projects like Arize Phoenix (preferred).
