This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.
• Interpret engineering specifications into comprehensive drawings, 3D parametric models, assemblies, and technical documentation that facilitate fabrication and installation.
• Create and update 2D drawings, 3D parametric models, assemblies, and relevant documentation using approved engineering guidelines.
• Generate drawings that outline geometry, interfaces, materials, finishes, processes, tolerances, inspection criteria, and assembly relationships.
• Implement GD&T in line with ASME Y14.5-2009 standards.
• Assess tolerance accumulation and fit at both part and assembly interfaces.
• Utilize effective parametric modeling techniques, including fully constrained sketches, stable design intent, controlled references, and structured assembly configurations.
• Conduct independent verification of drawings and models for precision, completeness, fit, form, function, manufacturability, inspectability, and compliance with standards.
• Confirm the accuracy of bills of material, parts lists, item balloons, quantities, drawing references, notes, weld symbols, and revision details.
• Ensure the integrity of drawings and models through document control, revision management, configuration oversight, and record-keeping processes.
• Address technical review feedback and maintain an auditable record of modifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, fabricators, and inspectors to clarify requirements and resolve any discrepancies.
• Manage assigned priorities, provide updates on progress, and communicate any concerns regarding scope, resources, or schedules.
• Assist with backlog reduction and provide mentorship to drafting personnel upon request.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the BEA Technical Point of Contact.
• Provide occasional onsite assistance at the Idaho National Laboratory’s Materials and Fuels Complex when necessary.
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR at least 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing PTC Creo.
• Proficient in PTC Creo to contribute effectively from day one.
• Expertise in precision mechanical design, including 3D parametric modeling, part and assembly detailing, and fabrication drawings.
• Capability to apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009 and assess tolerance accumulation and fit at part and assembly interfaces.
• Experience in independently verifying drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, inspectability, and adherence to applicable standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, calculations, vendor data, and redlines while maintaining the engineering intent.
• Familiarity with materials, machining, welding, fabrication, inspection, and assembly methods.
• Experience in managing drawing revision control and configuration management processes.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work the designated Mountain Time schedule and report onsite at MFC as required.
• Preferred: Experience with Windchill or similar product data management systems, like PDM or Vault.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Preferred: Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary drawing packages and addressing feedback from engineers, fabricators, and inspectors.
• Preferred: Experience in mentoring drafting personnel in modeling, detailing, drawing checks, and GD&T application.
• Preferred: Experience in managing drafting workloads, assisting with backlog reduction, and tracking project schedule progress.
• Preferred: Prior work experience with DOE/NNSA.
