Deputy Director – Global Programs, USA Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee Leaders USA programming, encompassing both virtual and in-person formats.

• Enhance a leadership development curriculum centered around shared values in collaboration with Global Programs and Strategic Learning teams.

• Ensure alignment of content and design elements across Obama Leaders programs while sharing best practices and resources.

• Execute the application and selection process for Leaders USA.

• Lead the review and selection of a diverse and inclusive cohort of emerging leaders.

• Work with Impact and Insights to design programs, monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and facilitate learning.

• Identify operational enhancements and collaborate with Program Operations to boost efficiency.

• Work collaboratively across Foundation departments and contribute to communication materials for donors, the board, the public, and stakeholders.

• Support Development by creating programming opportunities and engaging in conversations with donors and prospects.

• Partner with Finance, Legal, Procurement, and infrastructure teams to address operational changes and challenges.

• Establish and maintain partnerships with organizations, institutions, and individuals.

• Act as a regional representative and internal liaison across the United States and territories.

• Research and identify speakers, facilitators, consultants, and other program partners.

• Manage vendor activities, deliverables, contracts, and compliance obligations.

• Contribute to strategies and programming focused on alumni engagement.

• Oversee the workflow, deliverables, and performance of two Associates.

• Coach direct reports to enhance their project management skills.

• Create and manage the sub-team budget while responsibly stewarding Foundation resources.

• Recruit a diverse cohort of 50 emerging leaders.

• Forge collaborations with the Obama Presidential Center.

• Develop communication materials that support organizational alignment, donor development, and operational efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in facilitation and curriculum development.

• Expertise in designing engaging virtual and in-person learning experiences.

• Experience in delivering training sessions to diverse audiences across the USA.

• Proven ability to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

• 4–6 years of experience leading or supporting social impact or leadership programs, especially with participants from the USA.

• Demonstrated proficiency in developing content for stakeholder engagement.

• Experience in leading high-level virtual and in-person programming with multiple partners.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to build trusting relationships with program participants from diverse backgrounds.

• Detail-oriented with process-oriented project management skills.

• Skills in budget, contract, and relationship management.

• Capacity to work effectively within a growing global network.
