Delivery Consultant, Nutanix Migration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Oversee the evaluation and analysis of the current vSphere environment, which includes VM inventory, dependencies, network/VLAN mapping, storage configurations, guest OS, and application limitations.

• Create and document migration wave strategies that incorporate application dependency grouping, maintenance windows, rollback criteria, and success metrics.

• Implement, configure, and manage Nutanix Move on a large scale, encompassing seeding, delta synchronization, cutover scheduling, and throughput optimization.

• Identify and address VMs that do not qualify for Move and establish alternative migration strategies.

• Collaborate with application owners during cutovers, carry out post-migration validation, and oversee issue resolution.

• Execute guest-level post-migration tasks, such as VirtIO driver installation, removal of VMware Tools, installation of NGT, retention of IP/MAC addresses, and license re-validation.

• Develop operational runbooks, as-built documentation, and provide knowledge transfer to the customer's operations team.

• Monitor and report on migration progress, risks, and issues weekly to the project lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise virtualization.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV, Prism Element, and Prism Central.

• Proven experience leading a VMware-to-Nutanix migration of over 500 VMs utilizing Nutanix Move.

• In-depth knowledge of vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, vDS, and vSAN or SAN-backed storage.

• Familiarity with Nutanix external storage setups and Fibre Channel or iSCSI SAN connectivity.

• Experience in addressing Windows and Linux guest OS issues in migration scenarios.

• Capability to work independently with application owners and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Nutanix Certified Professional – Multicloud Infrastructure (NCP-MCI) or a higher certification.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with Pure Storage FlashArray.

• Preferred: familiarity with HPE Synergy.

• Preferred: Nutanix Certified Master or NCX certification.

• Preferred: experience with Nutanix Flow, automation in Prism Central, or API/scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or REST.

• Preferred: previous consulting or services delivery experience.

• Candidates may be located anywhere in the USA or Canada.
