This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
β’ Enhance the performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of ImageTrend product databases.
β’ Evaluate SQL queries, stored procedures, schema modifications, and database deployment scripts prior to application releases.
β’ Analyze execution plans and assess query performance.
β’ Monitor production query performance to identify regressions, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
β’ Collaborate with developers and DBAs to rewrite and optimize queries while improving data-access patterns.
β’ Suggest, test, and implement effective indexing strategies.
β’ Provide guidance on database design, including tables, keys, constraints, partitioning, data types, indexing, and data distribution.
β’ Assist in performance testing and conduct post-release validation.
β’ Mentor developers on SQL development and best practices for database performance.
β’ Oversee and maintain the health, availability, security, capacity, and reliability of both production and non-production databases.
β’ Administer and support SQL Server and Azure data platforms, including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Hyperscale, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Databricks.
β’ Facilitate backup and recovery, disaster recovery, high availability, maintenance, patching, and validation of recovery procedures.
β’ Investigate database incidents such as performance degradation, blocking, deadlocks, resource saturation, failed jobs, connectivity, storage, and data integrity issues.
β’ Automate database maintenance, monitoring, validation, and reporting processes.
β’ Maintain technical documentation covering database configurations, operational procedures, performance decisions, and recovery processes.
β’ Ensure database security, access controls, encryption, audits, compliance, and HIPAA-related controls are upheld.
β’ Contribute to database capacity planning and cost optimization efforts.
β’ Participate in an on-call rotation following the initial training period.
β’ Travel for orientation, industry or company events, training opportunities, or onsite meetings as necessary.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
β’ Demonstrated professional experience as a Database Developer or similar role within enterprise software, SaaS applications, cloud solutions, database administration, performance engineering, data integration, or related technology environments.
β’ Advanced proficiency in SQL, with experience in reviewing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and tuning complex queries, stored procedures, and database workloads.
β’ Experience in interpreting SQL Server execution plans and diagnosing performance issues related to indexing, statistics, blocking, deadlocks, CPU, memory, storage, and I/O bottlenecks.
β’ Background in designing, evaluating, and implementing indexing strategies for both transactional and analytical workloads.
β’ Experience supporting production database environments while collaborating with software development, infrastructure, operations, and database administration teams.
β’ Working knowledge of database security, access controls, encryption, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, high-availability solutions, data integrity practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
β’ Familiarity with SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Hyperscale, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Query Store, and related monitoring or diagnostic tools.
β’ Experience in supporting ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, data lakes, dimensional modeling, star-schema designs, and managing large-scale datasets.
β’ Proficiency in automating database administration, monitoring, maintenance, validation, and reporting using PowerShell, T-SQL, CI/CD pipelines, scripting languages, or related tools.
β’ Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and time management capabilities.
β’ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Ability to handle proprietary and confidential information with discretion.
β’ Eagerness to learn and enhance knowledge or skills.
β’ Strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, collaboration, and team orientation.
